“I knew I needed to do this when I realized my kids needed more options for their learning.”

-Lauren (founder)

Viora was created to fill the gaps in the homeschool community

Have you ever noticed when you search for homeschool resources, about 80% of everything you find is meant for K-3? And most programs are created for one specific group of kids or are affiliated with a particular church or religion. Viora is here to offer something different.

I wanted a place where my kids could just learn. Where any kid could feel comfortable. Not be told what to believe or to have someone else’s values layered into the curriculum. Just honest, curious, hands-on learning in a space where every kid is welcome regardless of what their family believes. That’s where Viora was born.

Who We Are

  • The best class we ever have will probably be a little loud. Maybe a little messy. Possibly even happening outside in the fresh air with kids who have completely taken over the direction of the lesson. And that’s exactly how we like it.

Hands-on at Viora isn’t a buzzword. It means your kids are doing things with their hands. Moving through material instead of sitting and getting it. Making something real out of what they learn. Because when a kid builds it, cooks it, experiments with it, or creates it, they own it. And that’s when real learning happens.

  • We believe kids learn best when they do. Not when they watch, not when they copy notes, not when they sit and wait for the next set of instructions.

We think the biggest disservice traditional education does to kids this age is forgetting that they are still kids. Children need room to interact with the world around them, to be curious, to be wrong, and to figure things out for themselves. One of the most valuable things a young person can develop is the ability to think independently. And we’re building that, one messy, loud, lightbulb-clicking session at a time.

Meet Mrs. Ward

I’m Lauren Ward. A certified educator, a homeschool mom, and the person behind everything at Viora Learning.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University with Texas certifications to teach all core subjects in grades 4 through 8. I’m also certified in the Science of Teaching Reading, ESL instruction, and Gifted and Talented education. During college, I completed my student teaching hours in science, math, and history classrooms from 5th to 8th grade, and have spent the last 4 years teaching 7th grade science.

But honestly? Some of my most important credentials don’t fit on a resume.

In December of 2025, I pulled my own three boys out of public school. The decision wasn’t easy, but it was clear. School violence on the rise. Classrooms without certified teachers. Behaviors going unsupported while good teachers burn out. Standardized testing crowding out real learning. And curriculum with questionable influence being pushed into our schools. Sound familiar?

Leaving the traditional classroom didn’t mean leaving education. It meant finally having the freedom to do it right. Homeschooling my kids has taught me that learning looks different for every child, that it doesn’t fit into a box, and that when you stop forcing kids into a system and start meeting them where they are, something incredible happens.

I built Viora because my own kids needed it and it didn’t exist. Older kids needed a place to be themselves. And I teach the way I do because I genuinely love this age group. Teenagers (especially middle schoolers) get a bad reputation. They are goofy and weird and that’s why I’ve always connected with them. Because I’m real with them. I’ll be goofy with them. I let them see that I’m human too and sometimes we all make mistakes. And somewhere in that honesty, a lot of kids who felt like learning wasn’t for them start to believe maybe its not so bad after all.

That’s what I’m here for.

Viora is located centrally in New Braunfels, TX.
Our location offers 3 buildings featuring a variety of learning spaces both indoors and out, a fenced in backyard area perfect for those outside labs or just running off some energy, and a kitchen area we’ll use for learning those essential cooking skills.

Exact address information will be shared upon enrollment.
